We have often complained about most aspects of the forecast presentation on BBC but they are pretty good in comparison with what Sky does. I don't get these at home, but while on holiday the ship was able to pick up Sky to nearly 60N so I saw its output quite often. They are generally very hurried. Radar and satellite imagery are merged cleverly - so long as you are fairly well up in interpreting them both and can freeze frame the b/c to study the composite AND find the coastline. The dizzying satellite sweep we get on BBC pales beside the even more oblique view on Sky. But they do use a large screen without obvious joins in the panels! The joins on the BBC panels look like cross hairs, I want a phone number to show on screen, so that I could do a "bernie the bolt" and fire some grunge at the forecaster, for giving a terrible forecast ! ;-) Joe Wolverhampton 175m asl |
