If you have Google Earth installed you might like to try out my Dynamic Data
Layer which overlays all real-time rainfall radar data. The direct link can be found here http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/download.php?Number=427065 and it can also be found from the Dynamic Data Layers forum on keyhole, last post 29th May. Notes from the forum page below: It incorporates work carried out by other GE community members, but I have also spent some time adding radar data from many other locations, including South Africa Mexico Canada Brazil Hawaii Malaysia Japan and many more. There are data available for other areas but the file names update regularly, either time and date stamped or with random file names. This particularly applies to all data from Scandinavia, so I'd be grateful if anyone can find a source of easily linked data for that region. A special note - please do not switch on the whole layer at once, unless you have loads of memory. Although GE will cope with many radar images at once, I find that switching on all the Australian radar images completely blitzes virtual memory - my GE crashes out at 1.5Gb VM! I'm afraid I haven't got around to alphabetising or folderising the data but I suppose everyone will have their own preference on how to do this anyway.. Note this works best on GE3. Issues with cacheing on GE4 beta 1 cause some overlays to flash, I haven't tried GE4 beta 2 yet. -- Stuart Brooks Carluke South Lanarkshire 223m amsl webcams at www.brooks22.plus.com/index.htm INC new high res webcam |
