Is that 06240 Keith?

Weather Underground is still reporting with full Metars every 30 mins or so

Have the goal posts beens moved does anyone no? Obviously these City's are
no longer essential!!!

Italy seems to have stopped reporting synops for 16105 Venice, 16242 Rome
& 16289 Naples, they still do all the others. I feel someone is having a
game here and I am beginning to get fed up with it. Hollands the same,
with Amsterdam no longer reporting, these are the places I have been
painstakingly keeping a record of, for nothing. I am beginning to wonder
why I ever bothered :-(

I am steadily losing heart, if someone out there takes objection to what I
do just b&^%&y well say?.

Yes Paul that is 06240 Amsterdam. EHAM Amsterdam Airport Schiphol,
Netherlands

Metars (in Europe) don't report Maximum/Minimum temperatures so although
WU is a good guide, it does'nt give the actual reading to a 1/10th of a
degree like the synops do. Plus it's the synops that I use, not Metars.
I can get the daily Max/Min and rainfall from the Dutch Met site ...
They can also been found via WeatherOnline...
http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/Europe.htm
but rounded up.
Amsterdam-Schiphol 5° (Actual 4.8°c)
http://www.knmi.nl/actueel/opgetreden_extremen.html

A bit of a pain, but precisely my point, why have the dutch stopped
sending Amsterdam 06240? The data's obviously there.
I can make it up: AAXX 18061 06240 333 20048 70000=
But when you have to start fiddling around like this it begins to mount
up with time.

I like to live in a reliable, constant and fair world, some hope that is
nowadays.

Thanks for your reply as I am getting a bit disillusioned with it all
atm. As they say "Nothings forever"

Keith I fear you will have to get to grips with BUFR codes real soon now. :-(
The SYNOP code is on the way out.

I know Will, but I haven't a clue were to start, hence I'm in 'panic'
mode atm. I'm currently trying to learn Dreamweaver, then I think, what
will I actually be able to upload. I also started reading GAWK, it may
as well be 'Double Dutch', couldn't resist that one grin No wonder I
had to lie down this morning with an attack of vertigo:-0

BUFU/CREX by Nov 2010, I guess the synops will disappear at the same
time, if not before.

Incidentally, I thought I'd got the new coding system saved, but can't
find it now, is it available?
Also, is there anywhere that either has some examples or already reports
in the new form?

Thanks
