Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Thursday. Issued

The models show winds from a southerly quarter for the UK towards the end of
next week with western areas seeing the bulk of the rain. Further east the
European High doesn't show any signs of moving anywhere fast, with troughs
struggling to cross the UK as a result.

A trough lies to the west, bringing southerlies for all. Southerlies and
SSW'lies affect the UK as the trough fills and that's followed by further
southerlies at T+168 as another trough approaches the UK from the west.

MetO shows SW'lies and SSW'lies for the UK, with a deep low west of Iceland
and a secondary disturbance over the Celtic Sea. SW'lies affect all areas at
T+144 as the Icelandic low fills slightly.

GFS shows a trough over Ireland bringing southerlies for all. The
southerlies continue at T+144 and for most at T+168 as another trough moves
eastwards.

A trough covers Ireland with SW'lies for Northern Ireland and SSW'lies
elsewhere. The trough moves away to the east at T+144, only to be replaced
by another to the west with further SW'lies and SSW'lies.

The Japanese run also shows southerlies with a trough to the west. The
trough moves very slowly eastwards at T+144, bringing WSW'lies to western
Scotland and Northern Ireland; elsewhere winds remain southerlies.

As with the other runs, a deep low lies near Iceland and high pressure
covers much of Europe. The UK lies between the two with SSW'lies as a
result.
