Many a true word is spoken in jest! That could be nice representation
of the relative land areas of Scotland and the rest of the UK - after
the polar ice has melted.

An intersting map indeed!

I will print it out and put it on my discussion board in my geography
teaching room at Bablake. It's amazing the comments such maps get from
the students - I have a large one up at the moment with the South Pole
at the top, and with Australia dead centre.

The sixth form just cannot get their heads round that one.

Map makers really do have a lot to answer for with respect to
projection bias!

Actually when talking of distortions politicians and Local Government
Councilliors really are top heavy with Scottish representation. In fact that
map could portray Scottish influence in England.
representation in fact

That reminds me of an upside-down road-atlas I once had designed for driving
south.
Makes perfect sence so that landmarks and road junctions on the left are
also on the left on the map!

Strange at first seeing Cornwall to the top-right, but when driving south
it is much easier to follow.

In Australia they have globes with the South Pole at the top.

Inability to govern oneself is not a good thing. Be grateful for the
firm Scottish guiding hand.

I saw world maps like that in New Zealand too- those big fixed wall
ones. Britain and N Europe were about 2 inches from the bottom with
most of the top half taken up by ocean- certainly gave me a different
perspective on things!
