Everyone -
Sorry guys and gals to be completely off topic...! What are 'slaters' - are they these little armour plated insects (?) crustaceans (??) that you get under rotting logs and such like?? Googling for slaters gets me nowhere apart from lots of "roofers" (: On things with lots of legs has anybody else noticed the great daddy - long - legs invasion this year?? Wasn't there something in the news a couple of weeks ago about a racecourse that had to abandon a meeting because the ground was dangerous. Apparently there were so many crane fly (aka daddy long legs) larvae under just under the surface of the grass that it was becoming unstable. Can't say I've seem many this year though, probably all gone on their holidays - with the wasps. -- Ian Use the Reply-To address to contact me. Mail sent to the From address is ignored. |

If Slaters are woodlice, presumably Slater is a woodlouse.

Felly sgrifennodd Paul Hyett :
Who calls them anything else but daddy-long-legs though? ![]() I always call them crane flies. To me (at least as I was brung up) a daddy longlegs is a harvestman spider.
