Want to SEE why all these mouth-breather tirades about winter cold
snaps are not relevant to the overall state of the world's climate? Just go to http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/ and search for keywords like these: glacial retreat receding glaciers arctic ice antarctic ice Look at the resultant photos closely. Don't look away like an intellectual coward, and don't cherry-pick the subtle cases over the obvious, more numerous ones. The ice retreat ranges from noticeable to staggering in extent. If "record cold" in JimBob Arkansas yesterday was relevant to climate, the world's long-term ice would not be in chronic retreat. That's a fact. Deal with it like an adult, not a Bonzo. As has been mentioned many times (and ignored even more), winter will always happen like clockwork because of the Earth's tilt, and it will always be cold somewhere on a given day. But, as NASA puts it: "The great majority of the world's glaciers appear to be declining at rates equal to or greater than long-established trends, according to early results from a joint NASA and United States Geological Survey (USGS) project designed to provide a global assessment of glaciers. At the same time, a small minority of glaciers are advancing." http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/New...d=200205299370 Creatards will ache to emphasize that last sentence out of context, or maybe challenge NASA's credibility over an old, immaterial Space Shuttle flaw. One thing they will NOT do is address the relevance of all that receding ice. Why? Because they are L.S.O.S. (2nd word clue: burlap) E.A. http://enough_already.tripod.com/ Evidence shows that people ignore evidence. |
