Just reject that Vista POS, and insist that Microsoft continues to supply and support XP and you don't need a monster energy gobbling CPU ! Also campaign for more low power CPUs and chipsets. Really simple. Graham |

Graham Pretty irrelevant anyway considering that China currently spews 3 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere every year, and that figure is set to rise to 7 billion tonnes over the next 10 years. Dont think my little computer running or not running is going to make much differance. Heres an interesting figure for you. A 1 KW solar panel system will mitigate on average around 2.5 tonnes of CO2 per year. We would only need around 1.2 billion installations to mitigate just Chinas current CO2 emmissions. Doesnt count countries like India, Pakistan, Russia or Indonesia. Only 6.8 billion ppl in the world and 2/3 of them are so poor they wont be installing solar systems anytime soon. AGW if it exists needs a GLOBAL solution. Hardly rocket science. |

Wich is still less than the 9 billion tonnes of CO2 that the U.S. spews into the air every year. And of course, China has more than 3 times the U.S. population. China has the right to put as much CO2 into the atmosphere (per capita) as any other nation of course. So the U.S. as leader in the emissions area, will have to cut back.. By about 90%. Ahahahahahahahah |

The EEPC from China, and a host of other extremely lowe power machines from the Pacific rim (running the Intel atom - 2 watts max) - are about to hit the street. Looks like backlighting for the LCD display is now the primary consumer of energy. Runtime 4-6 hours on 3 AA batteries. |
