Everyone! Hot weather is approching fast. Also, thunderstorms are coming. What should I start to prepare with? From ENVIRONMENT CANADA. First of all I think it is a mistake to attach electric fans to the insides of umbrellas. (Having said that one may find that sticking an eraser on the pointy bit at the top might reduce electrical conductivity.) Secondly: Whilst most people agree that removing the roof from one's home does reduce temperatures significantly, bear in mind that the heat exhaust is almost as effective if one merely removes the northern section of it.* (This is to shade the occupant(s) from the sun when it is overhead. As a side benefit replacing the roof is obviously an imperative in the event of thunder showers and the fact that you only have to replace half of it in an hurry (and perhaps in the middle of the night) just goes to highlight my point about only removing a section of it.) * In the northern hemisphere -for residents of the southern hemisphere the southern portion aught to be removed. Those living in the high tropics and low subtropics may find the need to do this ones-self is regularly obviated by the weather. |
