From Aston Rowant nature reserve, on the north side of the M40.
Is that Coombe Hill between Tring and Wendover? On the map it looks
like a good viewpoint.

Excellent viewpoint and no motorway noise! It is south of Wendover so
not between there and Tring.
Map here
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/oldmap.sr...rch.srf& lm=0
with viewpoint and car park marked. Walk is about 3/4 mile fairly
level with lots of different views.
Don't forget to doff your cap towards Chequers which is under the
letter A of Aylesbury bottom left of the map.

That's the Coombe Hill I meant. In this case I hadn't time to reach it,
the sunset was gorgeous but short-lived. I'm about to book a walking
holiday so I'll add the hill to my "training schedule".
What good pubs are nearby?
