0600z: 25001KT 60km 1ST012 (1SC050) 5CI250 3.4/2.5 QFF 1006.7 rising.

Wednesday's showers consisted of a mix of rain, hail (5-6 mm) and snow. Showers were heavy at times, but only briefly, and accompanied by strong gusts of wind (max 33 knots). No lightning seen or thunder heard, but there was thunder reported from Shrewsbury to the north. Showers largely faded away by 2000z, but there was the odd slight one overnight. Generally cloudy with large amounts of active convective cloud. The odd break to partly cloudy during the afternoon, and more generally partly cloudy early evening for a time. A cloudy night, but with breaks in the lower clouds right at the end of the night. Currently there is some turbulent stratus over the south Shropshire hills, and increasing cirrus above. Excellent visibility away from precipitation, falling to moderate or poor in the heaviest precipitation Wednesday afternoon. Surface wind W-WNW F3-4 veering NE-E F2-3 by 1300z, backing SW-W F1-2 by 1800z, then variable F0-1 after 0200z. Minimum temperature so far is 2.8 (0528z).
