However, the maximum since 09:00 so far is 8.5C. My lowest ever October maximum was 9.6C on 30th 2008. This is all the more surprising given the SST. The last sub 10C maximum was back in March.

I was surprised that the maximum temperature here only got up to 9.9C
yesterday given the mostly sunny day. We've got some shelter from that
northerly and I even managed a couple of hours in the hammock and the
sunshine felt warm.

Still, 9.9C is the coldest October day maximum since 9.4C on the 14th
October 2010 where the temperature only reached 9.4C. The difference
between then and now is that the 14th was a cloudy day whilst yesterday
we had over 8 hours of sunshine. That makes it rather notable methinks.
