Default Numerical weather prediction

The models really are struggling with the detail at present.
Predictions of maximum snow depth in Tideswell on Easter Monday from
the 00z operational runs of various models a

Canadian GDPS: Nil
GFS: 4 cm
DWD ICON: 9 cm
Arpege: 29 cm

Being told that there'll be somewhere between nothing and a foot of
snow isn't all that helpful!

The Met Office model is predicting something like 12 hours of heavy
snow on Monday so it would probably come somewhere close to the Arpege
prediction for accumulation.

I shall watch the actual evolution with interest.
