Not sure who Jo is but he/she is fairly brave to post this on Twitter.

BBC Weather @bbcweather
Early indications show potential for disruptive #snow Wed/Thurs next week.

What does #snow mean? Why not just say "snow". Also what on earth is
93jGQCzZHR ? I presume it is a picture of an #chart or something?

Using a hashtag as in #snow makes the Tweet visible to anyone searching for mentions of thereof. It's perhaps overused but can be a useful tool if you want to sift through the noise and find pertinent Tweets regarding the subject in which you are interested. Professionally I find this rather useful.

You could click through to see what the picture is ; - ) But to save you the trouble it's the Tweet itself and the photo attached to it - which is a car stranded in a snow drift on a hill somewhere some time. I hate when forecasts are illustrated with pictures of how it might be. We all know what snow looks like, and this raises expectations among hoi polloi about what they will get, wherever they are - especially with such a vague tease.

My personal view is that it is foolish to even post this one week ahead unless one is trying to one-up online fauxcasters - and there's no need for that.

Stephen.
