Just wondering, with not much sign of any 'Summer' weather on the
horizon, how's the mean temperature for May doing? Any chance of May
being colder than this last April? Would be pretty unusual if it is...

Don't think May is that cold as such, it's more damp cyclonic SW winds
rather than northerly plunges at the moment, meaning lowish daytime
temps but not notably cold nights, *but* there does seem to be a
chance that the year max so far of 21-22C or so (reached on several
days) is not going to be significantly beaten by the end of the month.
ISTR from this group the early 70s was the last occasion there was a
lower year max by the end of may?

Dire here as well. Played in first cricket match of the season in the
strongest constant wind ever. As the temperature was only about 12C and
there was pretty much full cloud cover throughout it felt absolutely
freezing and I accept at getting on for 60 I might feel the cold but I was
actually shivering at times fielding in the slips - I know, I shouldn't be
playing cricket at my age!
