If anyone here has carried out this repair it would be much appreciated
if they could supply details of suitable replacement switch and any
other tips in how to carry out the work.
I've done it on my Oregon Sci. gauge. The switch is noncritical apart from
the size so take it apart and get your ruler out. Looks like taking it
apart might be the hard bit for others posts...
Reed switches are delicate, particularly the wire to glass seal. Always
hold the wire in needle nosed pliers between the switch and any bending to
be done. Also use the pliers as a heat sink when soldering. Coat the
repaired reed and new soldered joints with something to keep the damp out.
I use a spray conformal coating but I guess a bit of polyurethane varnish
would do. Coat after testing...
