before antifreeze?
If you could find one in a car boot sale or an hurricane lamp or
something like, then you won't get a problem like that ever again as
long as you remember to keep it filled and lit.
Though given the OP mentioned a *plastic* bottle, probably not the best
idea - though you'd be right about the problem never occurring again...
