Blizzards? What blizzards?
It's pretty grim down here Dundee way. it's stooped snowing,
but there's several centimetres, and I'm not going anywhere
today. The big question is will the post still get through?
I've had no post today, but it may be that there just wasn't
anything for me.
It's what I would describe as 'raw'. Temperature must be above
freezing because the thaw is continuing, but it's chill and dank
and the wind has dropped and the sky continues to be uniformly
grey.
When "they" say "blizzards", I don't know what they mean any
more. i take a blizzard to be snow with gale force, or at
least strong, winds.
That is what I would mean if I used the term.
It's coming just to mean "quite heavy snow". Even the wife
uses it that way now, in spite of many years of correction. I
think "they" now use blizzard in the same way as everyone
else.
Please include me out of 'they'. I know what I mean by a
blizzard, which definitely involves strong winds blowing the
snow around. And I didn't use the word 'they' in my message.
Disgusted, of near Dundee.
Not sure if you're disgusted by the weather, or by the misuse of
the language, or both.
Equally disgusted (by both), of Fochabers.
