This rain wasn't forecast; indeed, none was forecast until Thursday.
It's all very annoying.

Just 1.1 mm so far this April in Haytor.
Not that I care, soil tends to stay moist here and grass is still growing
furiously. In fact its rather nice walking on hard ground, went out for a short
cycle ride on Haytor tramway last weekend, very pleasant on firm ground.
