Default Is God Punishing America?

This is in the category of spirituality or religion and not science,
and can't really be proven, but I'll give my take.

No, I don't think "God" is punishing us. We suffer consequences of
our actions. A person that puts his hand on a hot pan and leaves it
there isn't being punished. It's just the consequence of doing that
action.

I put "God" in quotes because it could be understood to be a
metaphoric concept for atheists.

As far as athiests and people of different beliefs, I find plenty of
them to be moral, kind, and just doing their best like everyone else.
People from all spiritual/religious beliefs believe they are "saved"
and "right" from their points-of-views.
