I received notice of the changes to the level 1b format. About
the only thing that concerns me, I think, are the different
(1.e7 vs. 1.e6) scaling factors for Band 4 and Band 5 calibration
coefficients, but I still have a question.

I can't figure out if there's anything in the level 1b data itself
that says it's the new format, or the format that's used now and
up 'til sometime in January. Does anyone know if there is something?
I may have missed it.
