It's OK Col we had the snow for you,the first since Christmas Day 2004, and
the attendant road chaos with the M53 totally solid with traffic after a
couple of accidents in the morning rush hour.
We also had a couple claps of thunder with the heavier snow showers around
midday.
Snow mostly melted in the afternoon but like you temperatures falling
rapidly away now.
Currently -0.5°C (1920 GMT)
I assume you mean the first lying snow since Dec 2004.
I don't begrude areas that see little snowfall a dose of the stuff, from
pictures on NW Tonight there was proper lying snow even in the
centre of Liverpool which must be a relatively rare event.
Falls of the order of 1-2 inches are fairly common here, but there
hasn't beem much this winter as it has been so dry.
From the comments Joe made, it looks like South Manchester was
about as far North as it got.
There was a dusting early this morning in the City Centre apparently.
will.
