[ Can someone remind me - because I've forgotten ;-( .... if this is

the
*only* 'wintry' precipitation in this 24hr, as they seem likely to

be
for us, does this count as a 'day of snow'? ]

Hi, Martin,

Yes, it counts as a day of snow as long as it is "solid precipitation

of
an opaque, white, crystalline nature, either soft (as in snowflakes)

or
in the form of grains or pellets which may be hard enough to bounce"

Straight from Metform 3100A "Instructions for completing monthly

returns
for Metform 3208B"

.... many thanks: the reason I couldn't remember/was confused was because
in the NCM message, in the group 6HTFG, snow grains goes with the 'H'
category [ days of hail, ice etc. ] (code = 2), and not in the 7Ssss
group [ days of snow or sleet ](where S is either 0, none, 1 sleet, 5
snow).

To show how fine the stuff was, quite a few grains fell right through
the rain-gauge funnel into the collector.

Thanks again,

Martin.
