weather warnings useless

To give a weather warning to yorkshire and humberside is ridiculous foe a
massive county like yorkshire.Plainly at the moment snow in large
quantities is only falling in the coastal areas.
Why doesnt the Met Office divide the country int smaller localities when
important warnings are issued .The public will then be able to heed the
warnings and know for definite ( almost ) that it is they who will be
affected.I liken the present system to the I mile motorway warning signs
that cry wolf for 3 or 4 miles and then disapear. Most drivers dont take
notice.
That's a fair point. People in the office in York today were convinced it
was going to snow because of the warnings.
The area affected is a small strip and we're towards the edge of it,
although it did extend to a light covering at Garrowby hill this morning
which I guess is 25-30 miles inland.
We're about 10 miles inland from the East coast and I doubt we will get any
more showers tonight, though the edge of the shower clouds are coming across
us from time to time.
Having said that, local people do get to know what to expect in a Northerly.
