Default Useful map

At http://www-frd.fsl.noaa.gov/mesonet/
1. Opens map of North America
2. Select 'World'tab which opens world map
3. Put cursor just to NW of British Isles. Left mouse button pressed and
drag to right which opens up rectangle for selection of smaller area as
required
4.Hover over weather station location to see details of temperature,
pressure and wind

Pedants corner: T in Fahrenheit (US origin), outline maps are fairly
diagrammatic and locations are not quite where you would expect them to be
wrt map. Unease with this last point can be helped by selecting 'overlay'
tab and then 'airports' which places.....airports on the map. I might take
issue with some of the altitudes shown but won't go into that;-)

The default location can be changed by going to the 'change details' and
following instructions dated 16th Sept 2003

Finally, the overview of all this and how to upload your own AWS data is at
CWOP
