Default Bracknell dead, Exeter yet to be born ...

Helped along a bit by a spot of lightning, the synoptic
station at Bracknell seems now to have been officially
closed in advance of the UKMO's westward flight.

Anyone in-the-know know when (or indeed if) one
is likely to come on line at Exeter anytime soon?

... there is already an active CDL (Climatological Data Logger) - but
these data are not generally available: we can see the information
internally - perhaps when things settle down a full-scale AWS will
output to the network.

Is Beaufort Park staying? - I'd hate to think of my old workplace disappearing.

Not as a generally available SYNOP or NCM. Not yet,
anyway.

Shame - I spent many a happy hour there, occasionally dodging adders.
One got cornered in the hydrogen store once, caused quite a stir - got
the RSPCA in.

I suppose they've sold it to developers and no doubt it will have lots
of 5-bedroom executive detached houses with postage stamp gardens and
probably costing nearly a million apiece. And of course in the
developer's blurb it will be in Wokingham or Crowthorne (next to a
golf course), not Bracknell, to try and extract as much postcode
cachet (and money) as they can.

Hopefully they will turn it into a public park or they may need to
extend the crematorium next door.

Is there any intention to have a "field" site at Exeter?
