[WR] Bracknell 1535Z: fine, hot and flat
 

AT 1535Z (4.35PM) a very 'flat' looking sky (a complete contrast to this
time yesterday).

Air temperatu 28.2degC (has been 28.5degC) [NB to Exeter ... this is
at least 4C below your web site forecast for Bracknell]

Dew point: 15.9degC
RH% = 48

2 oktas Cu humilis mostly, but two cells just about into the mediocris
category - only on account of the suggestion of sprouting towers, but I
estimate the maximum tops ~ 8000ft.

No other cloud evident.

Breeze only Bft 3, so a bit on the "sultry" side!

Looks like activity is elsewhere (again) so unless we get imports this
evening, another in the long sequence of virtually dry days stretching
back to the 9th July.

Air Temp: 27.9degC, Dew Point: 15.2degC.
More cloud than ob above: 1 okta distant Cu mediocris or congestus, 3
oktas Cu humilis, 1 okta Sc Cugen, 3 oktas Ci (very thin).

The TCU above looks as if it might be deep enough for a shower (EGLL
reporting TCU recently), but would depend much on the depth above the
freezing level (circa 11000ft from Herstmonceux), which should produce
an isolated shower - as they seem to be over Slough / Heathrow way,
perhaps fed from the reservoir complex in the vicinity?
Overhead, nothing of note. Also note that on 03882, the environment
curve tends to 'fight' the free/moist air ascent above about 450mbar, so
despite the large amount of CAPE, showers *may* not be too much in
evidence this evening, though even now, it is still too early to rule
them out - local convergence (and town vs. country effects) can work
wonders - just when you've decided to knock them out of the TAF ;-)

Our maximum today was 29.6degC (6C error on web site forecast)... so we
got a little boost (not unusual this time of year) from the obs above.
This means that today (Wednesday) was the warmest day since 8th June
(29.9degC), which latter is still our hottest day of 2004.

Got home from work and put on the BBQ in sunshine and SCT-BKN Cu with some
TCU.

Food ready, and on cue rain starts to fall, and were under the parasol
hiding from quite a moderate shower.

Rain has just ceased - looked around - and hardly and cloud! Most
extraordinary...

So, Max in Guildford today 28.4c at 1500Z

Rainfall 0.3mm - in the last 30mins!

Apparently it has been a warm day according to Alex Deakin but it will be
gradually hotting up to temperatures lower than yours and mine were today!
