Completely unbroken strong sunshine with a maximum of 22.1C.
The wind is generally a just onshore E F2, though it originates off the Lizard, rather than the open sea, so it's very warm. Occasionally dies away completely. SST 16.4C at the Penzance buoy, also 16.4C @ Looe, so it's warmed up nicely, helped by the recent generally onshore winds. Over 15C @ St Mary's Sound, which is normally affected by an upwelling of cold water in a tidal flow. Slack water when I checked which is probably why it's higher than normal. Very high UV the last 2 days, under an Atlantic ridge with a fair bit of low level moisture, up to 9 at Camborne. Graham Penzance |

The highest UV occurred when the sea mist was rolling in but remained thin enough to allow the sun to shine through it. Plenty of people walking around with radiation burns on their faces, testament to four days with a UV greater than 9. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
