Default Exceptional winter high

If GFS or the MetO are anything to go by, my January pressure record is about to be well & truly smashed. Such intense anticyclones in winter are normall situated well to the E-NE of Cornwall, we just get a 'dark' easterly.

Certainly of interest.

As was todays weather. A SE gale straight into Penzance around dawn gave the biggest sea hitting Penzance prom of the winter. It all coincided with a big high tide. The prom was awash, spray going over the roofs of the houses.. Piccy here https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=...te/kL0rLUhjyVg

There'll be a bit of clearing up to do.

Had a couple of gusts to 51 knots in Tideswell this afternoon. That's
the strongest since 52 knots in March 2015. It also equals the previous
strongest in January in my 12-year record. That occurred on 1st Jan
2014. Only managed a Force 7, though. Haven't yet recorded a January
gale.
