Default Penzance - Lowest June Max on Record

It reached 12.2C in the 24 hours to 09:00 BST today, beating 13.0C back in 1993
COLDEST JUNE DAYS
12.2C 11/6/19
13.0C 12/6/93
13.2C 7/6/19
13.5C 26/6/97
13.6C 8/6/09

So yesterday won by a fair margin. Currently barely 11C.

7.2mm of rain, so not a 'wet' spot, just wet, cold, windy & miserable. The camp sites, which were packed back in April, are deserted.

I used to have friends who ran a guest house at Sennen, across the fields from a big campsite. They used to fill up nicely during weather like this as less than happy campers trudged across the field desperate for warmth & shelter.

That's a BIT better

especially out of the wind.

At least it's more like October than January.

Still had my fleece on this morning but discarded by the afternoon as it
brightened up and the sun came out. What a relief, almost emotional at
seeing the bright, warm thing in the sky.

Yesterday's horror reminded me of my first and last venture to
Glastonbury in June 1997. That was horrific too, I still have the mental
scars that have led to an irrational phobia of mud.

On the 11th June last year my maximum day temperature was 27.7C and it
was 24.5C on the 12th. This year 11th = 12.8C; 12th = 16.1C. I recorded
no rainfall for the whole month.

I regret never having been to Glastonbury. 1997 my big event was the F1 Grand Prix @ Silverstone - it was fine.

On 11th June last year I was on Scilly, searching for shade on Bryher, if I've got the days right. There's very little shade on the off Islands, other than on Tresco, which is rather a theme park for the rich these days. The other off Islands are amazing.

Reasonable end to the day here, at least the temperature struggled to just 15C, I haven't checked the exact figure.

I was at that one too :-)

9.6 max yesterday, 11.8 today - so going in the right direction :-)
