Had to get a map out to find Dorrington, Freddie :-) Very different
meteorologically from South Wales I should think.

Yes, very different. But it's what I'm used to, as I lived in Shropshire (or very close by) for almost 25 years. It's nice to be back in the rain shadow, but I miss the stunning scenery of the Rhondda.

Unfortunately, yes. We had massive problems finding a rental property in Shropshire as, by the time we had arranged a viewing and booked time off work, several properties were let to a previous viewer. This happened twice when we were on our way to a viewing from South Wales. The property we have rented had been on the agent's books for a while as it is part of an estate that is currently in probate. It has been in probate for eleven years already. We have a minimum year's lease, but anything beyond that time is at the mercy of the landlord's will being settled. We are quietly hoping for another 11 years :-) Being realistic, we are anticipating moving some time next year. It will be easier next time as we will be in a position to react quickly to properties coming on the market and to get in with an early viewing. Not to mention the logistics of moving only 10 or so miles.
