Yes, I lived in the Shropshire rain shadow for 25 years so these monthly totals take a bit of getting used to. ELTA for here for November is 250 mm - which would take 4 months to achieve in Shropshire! Current total for this year so far since 8/3/18 is 1150 mm. I've never recorded 1150 mm in a whole year, let alone in 8 months. This is a dry year, too. It doesn't feel like a particularly wet place, with number of wet days in a month not much more than in Shropshire - but when it rains, it rains :-)

[OT].......and at what's usually one of the very dry spots of the world
I see that Bahrain had 19.9 mm in October, including 11.6 mm on the
22nd. The October average there is 0.5 mm and the previous highest
October total was 8.9 mm in 1969. Interesting times :-)

1500z: 15010KT 25km 1SC020 7AC080 (/AS100) 11.6/8.8 QFF 1009.2 falling.
Dry this afternoon, with small amounts of stratocumulus and extensive medium cloud layers. The medium cloud has become thinner in the past hour or so, with watery sunshine, but looks to be thickening now. F3-4 southeasterly breeze, and good visibility. Maximum temperature so far today is 11.8 (1323z).

81.8mm in Penzance up to 09:00 today, very little since. Spent the day watching the very dark skies just to the west where it's been very wet indeed (mostly over the sea).

71mm in Camborne so far.
