Default Penzance - Fresher today.

Despite the rather lower temperatures, in light winds it still felt warm & rather humid yesterday afternoon. Some rather impressive Cb for a time somewhere just south of Camborne / Redruth.

Much fresher, more polar maritime, feel this morning, for the 1st time for an age. Last nights minimum of 10.6C comfortably the lowest since June.

The colouring is typical of the cooler Pm air.

Might actually get some appreciable rain at the weekend, then again . .

Still avoiding all the showers. Good periods of sunshine so far. There are some small but intense showers around though, some beautiful anvils against the deep blue sky.

Temperature has just scraped 20C, but in the clear Atlantic air & strong sunshine it feels warmer. One of those big shade/sun difference sort of days.

The recent webcam images here https://magicseaweed.com/Live-Sennen-Webcam/65/ shows some nice cloud images, and a heavy shower out to sea on the 14:48 pic which clipped the Minack.

Yes, much fresher today and especially cool during a thunderstorm around
midday when the temperature dropped to 16C.

A maximum of only 20.6C this afternoon despite plenty of sunshine. This
was the coolest day maximum since the 29th July when the temperature
only reached 19.5C. That was a real stand-out, lowest day temperature of
the month by quite a margin.

5.0 mm fell in today's brief thunderstorm bringing the monthly total to
6.2 mm. There is now even a hint of green on the lawn amongst the straw
and weeds.

A total of 0.1mm here today in a late afternoon shower. 10 hours of sunshine up at Bosullow today. With the strong sunshine a perfectly decent day. In fact with the clear air, Cu to reflect the light, and lower temperatures, my panels produced more power today then on some days days during the hot mainly cloudless period.

I noticed that old DB on the local BBC weather said there was the 1st decent wave for surfers for several weeks. Strange that, as 10 days ago the swell was so big Sennen was red flagged around high tide on 2 consecutive days. In fact on 31st July I posted
"Great surfing conditions at the moment, and as a result the surfing beaches are absolutely packed. Probably the busiest day in the water this summer" In fact very messy surf today. Where's Craig Rich when you need him!

I remember Craig Rich from when I lived in Somerset as a teenager - on the southwest-facing slopes of the Quantock hills (so out of BBC West coverage, but definitely in the BBC Southwest coverage) on Spotlight Southwest. He was always very much on the ball as regards the weather and surf :-)
