I'm in this video yesterday, keeping cool https://www.facebook.com/jubileepool...8725411187080/

To think, many on the council would have preferred to turn it into a car park. Saved thanks to the Friends who now run it and are attracting numbers not seen since the 1950s, after years of being run down. It was almost destroyed in 2014, which united people & proved the catalyst for change.

For once, Tideswell is looking just like that today, minus the cirrus
and the pool! It's not good for my fair Celtic skin. It's just crept
above 25° here so definitely an indoors day. In 48 hours time we
should just be departing Heathrow for cooler northern climates :-)

The cirrus gave an amazing sunset yesterday.

Maximum of 26.3C here Norman but with a lovely sea breeze blowing all
day and a relatively moderate DP of around 15C, it was just about perfect.

Mind you though, that sun was scorching today through a deep blue sky
and very little, if any thin high cloud like the past couple of days.

Passed 200 hours of sunshine today for June. Some might be surprised
that this isn't far off the average as many think this month has been
really sunny. May could end up sunnier, though it might be close.

Managed to have a swim in the briny this afternoon. No wetsuit required
though after an hour I had definitely cooled down. Nice to warm back up
in the sunshine! Sea flat calm and crystal clear. Offshore sea
temperature at 1 metre depth peaking around 18C this afternoon though it
would have been a bit warmer along the beach.

It topped out at 29.8° here with a dew point around 9° and hardly a
breath of wind. Not my sort of weather at all. Never mind, in 48 hours
we'll be in Reykjavik where the max was 9° today. Much more pleasant
:-)

What a scorcher Norman! Low DPs though.

9C; brrrr!

I've worked with may people from Iceland though I've never been there.

A young Icelandic research scientist once moaned to me about the weather
(looking outside through the window across the fine Brum Uni landscape)
on a sunny January afternoon. I asked why when it was such a lovely day.
She said the British winters were full of 'pretence'. I again questioned
this... 'Pretence?' I asked. Yes, it is not dark!
