[WR] Otter Valley, Devon - Snow again....
For the 6th day this month I can record snow as 'falling' making it a
record for any month in my time of observing weather. Rain falling all morning becoming heavier, turned to sleet and now wet snow as the temperature slowly drops (high of 6.1C at 12:30). The tops of the hills are now white with a light covering. Rainfall at 166 mm and rising with this persistent rain/sleet/snow. My wettest month was in November 2009 with 189 mm. What a remarkable month this March has turned out to be. (15:50), 2.5C, RH 94%, DP 1.7C, 993 hPa (S), Wind 2 mph NNW. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

A veil of high frontal cloud visible to the east all day. Took Leanne out to the Seal Sanctuary, couple of pics to show how pleasant it was outside http://www.turnstone-cottage.co.uk/Sun.html a near perfect late March day. The sunchine, and lack of wind, making up for the struggling temperatures. Graham Penzance |

The sunchine, and lack of wind, making up for the struggling temperatures. Wet snow/sleet quickly turned back to rain even though the temperature has stayed the same but the DP rose a little. The hills are now white above 100 m and I suspect the higher lanes will be very slippery. Over 12 mm of rain so far today so nothing amazing there but it is persistent. I remember a time at the Seal Sanctuary when my dad got into an big argument with the owner. This was because the owner was throwing fish into the pools in such a way that the seals would then splash the spectators as the seals dived for the fish. My dad got splashed with stinky seal water and wasn't amused. I thought it was going to end in a fist fight but my dad managed to keep it non-violent. Good, as he would of slaughtered the owner (he's a big guy is my Pa). Time to light the wood burner and settle down for the evening - it's yuk outside. Pity the holiday-makers that have come down for Easter, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day (it cannot get any worse). -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
