Penzance - Sunny & Breezy after a wet night.

After a fairly sunny morning yesterday, rain arrived mid afternoon, finally clearing around 09:00 today. This resulted in another 13.4mm, adding yet more to what already was a very wet month.

However, it has not been a dull month here, partly down to luck (the recent fronts seem to have been largely nightime affairs) and partly down to the cold sea suppressing convection. It surpassed last years March sunshine a few days ago.

Todays cold sector has been something of a surprise, Basically no Cu development, even over the moors behind Penzance, as demonstrated by the sunshine data at Bosullow, right on the top of the Moors http://www.sunrecorder.net/googlemap...serial=1010 1
The only cloud over the nearby moors 12:00 - 16:00 was lenticular in nature..

The temperature has reached 12.1C despite a distinctly blustery breeze, gusting to 32mph even in Penzance, where it's offshore. Despite the wind it's felt a fair bit warmer than in Sunday's prolonged sunshine, when the temperature was similar (max 11.9C). That basically down to the higher humidity.

Same again today! It's good getting all the rain at night. It is now my wettest March on record (since 1991) and the 2nd coldest.

Sunshine figures are now up to an OKish 100 hours. In fact west Cornwall seems to be the sunniest spot in the UK this month, along with Anglesey and the Hebrides http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/sums.jpg (figures exclude today) as well as the warmest http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/meant.jpg , which is normal and the wettest (for a low lying spot.)

Together with the exceptional snowfall, there's been a fair bit of weather! Just lacking a really big sea this month, though the east side of the Lizard saw flooding during the easterly gale & Spring tide on 1st/2nd March.
