Snow in Cholsey
 

It's snowing here - looks quite heavy but it's only settling on grass so
far so it's really only slight. I see Heathrow have cancelled flights
today so I assume it's worse up there - well it's in the amber warning
area. Anyone else got snow? There aren't many posts yet.

Snowing here Woking/Guildford way. The snow is moderate/heavy with the temperature around 0.5C and slowly dropping. Like you only settling on grass/shrubs so far. Heathrow is only 15 miles NNE of here so imagine it is pretty similar. My understanding is the heaviest snow is expected here overnight Sat/Sun.

There was a piece in my paper this morning saying that yesterday they
had cancelled 70 short-haul flights scheduled for today as a
precautionary measure, so they might as yet have little or no snow
lying.

Here in Cranleigh we had very light drizzle first thing and then light
snow from about 8:30. I was about to say that it hadn't started settling
yet, but then looked out of the window to discover that at some point in
the last 15 minutes the snow had become much heavier and it is now
moderate verging on heavy, and has started settling on the grass. If
this keeps up I imagine it won't be long before it starts settling on
all surfaces.

That's the problem with snow, you can hear heavier rain but snow is
always quiet. I've experienced what you have, looked out and wondered
where all the snow came from when not long previously it wasn't even
snowing!

Very light snow in Denmead, Hants since 11:45. Melting as it lands - so
far.

Temperature +1C and has dropped half a degree since the snow started.

Mostly light here in Bracknell but did become moderate for a time about
a couple of hours ago giving a thin covering on grass and a few roofs.
Paths and roads were too warm for it to settle. Just the occasional
small flakes for the past hour and a half.

That's the problem with snow, you can hear heavier rain but snow is
always quiet. I've experienced what you have, looked out and wondered
where all the snow came from when not long previously it wasn't even
snowing!

And of course about five minutes after I'd posted that the snow reverted
to being fairly light once more. Round noon it petered out altogether,
after first having reverted to sleet or even rain. There was a little
lying snow visible in a few spots; the tops of hedges seemed to be a
favoured location. It started snowing again very lightly around 4pm, but
we've had very little so far. There's just a dusting on grass, roofs and
cars, and I think tarmac and stone surfaces are still pretty much clear.
