Hi Bernard The sensor is at the regulation height for an air temperature reading. I have 3 temp sensors in the garden attached to 3 different loggers. They all showed readings compatible with each other. I was so surprised to see such a low temperature that I thought the reading must be wrong until I checked with the other 2. There was also a consistent progression of temperatures down to the lowest reading. At Painter's Forstal a few miles south of Faversham and a few miles west of my location, there was a minimum reading of -14.0 c. When I checked on a station at Faversham at 8 am, they were showing a temperature of -11 c. There has been a max temperature here of only -1.2 – the first ice day here for several years. |

If confirmed that must surely be a record for Kent?

Thank you for giving additional detail. Since I wrote my comment I have seen other reports of temperatures ca -15 in inland Kent, that support your value. As D Goldstone has commented, it could be a record for Kent, but I am afraid I don't have any stats for your area.
