Each-way bet forecasting again
 

The current Met Office forecast for Tideswell is predicting 12 hours of
heavy snow from 7 p.m. this evening with the temp on 0° and the wind
gusting over 35 m.p.h. yet there isn't even a yellow snow warning. If
we do get that sort of weather, and it's a big 'if', the roads will
become very nasty, especially those higher up than us. Current temp
(1110z) is +2.8 so it doesn't have to fall much in any precipitation
for things to deteriorate rapidly.

There's certainly some pretty cold air pushing in. At 1000z the temp
was only 2.8° at Belmullet, with a Force 6 WNW'ly blowing. That would
be consistent with around 0° here if the same airmass pushed in, which
seems likely.

If conditions are going to get as bad as forecast then surely a warning
is justified. If the thinking is that the weather doesn't justify a
warning then why does the forecast predict such bad conditions. At
present the current forecast and the (absence of) warnings don't tie up.

I now what you mean Norman the video forecast seemed to suggest quite a bit
of snow for your area and higher parts of the Staffs Moorlands.
If this occurs surely it warrants at least a Yellow warning if Sunday
warranted an amber!

Here in Weston Coyney we are probably looking at a band of wintry showers
coming through this evening maybe turning to snow at times, but I don't
expect much.
Temperature has fallen away this afternoon from 4.3c around 2pm down to
1.5c.
