It then became mod/hvy and turned to moderate sleet around 1300z. This continued till about 1500z. A brief dry slot then it turned showery after 1600z. There was a brief hail shower at 1615z. With the rain and a max temp of 3.6° there's been a steady thaw all day. There's still quite a lot of snow around but the cover is now much less than 50%. Some of the minor roads still have patches of thick frozen slush. I don't like the look of all the activity pushing across Ireland into Wales at the moment. With the wind getting round to WNW and the temperature on the drop it could be a very nasty night here. -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. https://peakdistrictweather.org Twitter: @TideswellWeathr |
