A classic coastal sunshine day - plenty of cloud streaming up the peninsula.
Minack https://www.minack.com/a-living-theatre/webcams/ Cloud's just drifting off the south coast now, as decaying Sc originating from the inland Cu. The sun's low enough in the sky to the south to be generally clear of the cloud at the Minack. Temperature is near the late Aug normal - max of 19.6C so far. Graham Penzance |

It was one of those days here when the sun shone for a lot longer than the recorder suggested (3.6 hours) as it was just too hazy to register. It didn't detract from what was another rather fine day with just a light breeze and reasonably warm too with a maximum of 21.7C, helped by moderate humidity giving a DP of high of +16C for most of the afternoon. The mean monthly temperature (now at 16.6C) is slowly nudging up and given the forecast for the next 7 days, this month could even end up at average or slightly above. One thing that won't end up at average is sunshine. Still woefully down on normal with a monthly total to date of just 113 hours. Everything seems more advanced than usual. The grapes are nearly ready to pick, much earlier than normal. I've been picking blackberries since late July, and they've been the sweetest, largest sized berries I ever seen. I've been picking the apples from my Discovery tree for a couple for weeks now. The other apples are nearly ready to pick as well. Tomatoes in the garden have been excellent since mid-July and are still coming thick and fast. It may not have been the best of summers but the fruit and veg seemed to have liked it. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |

The coastal sunshine's been largely limited to the south coast today, where it's been a glorious afternoon. Only a couple of hours of sun up at Bosullow, certainly 6 hours so far here (now 16:15). An afternoon to get seriously burnt at the Minack https://www.minack.com/a-living-theatre/webcams/ Consecutive sunny days - makes a pleasant change! Graham Penzance |

As you say Graham, strong sunshine too and a chance for me to top the tan successfully. UV of 6 but may climb a bit higher over the weekend. 12.8 hours of sunshine today (92% of the total possible). Sea breeze arrived quite early at 10:05 and kept the temperature pegged back to a very pleasant 23.1C despite the strong sunshine. Moderate humidity again with a DP of +17C for much of the afternoon. Tourists arriving in droves for the last big push of the summer. Hope they 'slip slop slap' as the Aussies would say. -- Nick Gardner Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalleyweather.me.uk |
