It has not got light here this morning. It would hardly be an exaggeration to say the light level is nil. Any body else groping around?

Remove that. I've been ill and spent 12 hrs less in bed than I had thought. It's 1.19 a.m. What a ****!

Is that a lady's... question?

May I say I am in the dark without conflating circumspection?

I rather believe it IS the weather. Lows increase speed to landward and this design feature enables them to draw out the anticyclones into the regions that become cols for their own nefarious purposes. Either that or the creator has a larger use for them.

Reminds me of the effects that shift-work had on me years ago, the
confusion of waking up in mid-winter darkness and wondering whether I'd
got to dash to get ready for a morning shift or I had a couple of hours
to spare before wandering off to start a night shift. Then there was the
afternoon after a night shift when I was walking from the car park to
Stowmarket High Street and I had to stop someone to ask her what day it
was in case it was early closing and the shops would be shut.

+1 to that! I'm glad I'm not the only one - though I never had to ask
someone what day it was though....

I did notice that the time of your posting was 0:53:56 UTC, and assumed
that you must have been referring to yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Not so far away, after a greyish, dampish morning, it has been a lovely
afternoon - positively spring-like. I hope it's helped your recovery
from your illness.
