Warm night on the north Cornish coast.
 

Particularly warm along the north coast last night. The prolonged sunshine of late (43 hours in the last 3 days - even over the moors), together with an onshore wind, means that the SST near the beaches is around 20C. (When the tide was coming in over the sand yesterday, it felt positively tepid!)

As a result, a minimum of 19C at Camborne, but right on the coast, at St Ives, it never fell below 20C. http://www.nci-stives.org/weather/Cu...antage_Pro.htm Common enough in London, but not in the top of The Island http://s0.geograph.org.uk/photos/02/...9_245847ce.jpg where the weather station is.

Today looks set to be the last hot day of the spell here - probably, which pleases me, 20C is just fine - as a maximum rather than a minimum.

(OT) I just saw a picture in the press entitled 'Charles opens Penzance Jubilee Pool' Should read 'Jubilee Pool closed for Royal photo opportunity'. Still, all publicity is good I suppose, and the 100s turned away will be let in today.

Only Charles turned up. To cheer him up 2 ladies in Union Flag swimsuits were their to greet him!
