What does #snow mean? Why not just say "snow". Also what on earth is
93jGQCzZHR ? I presume it is a picture of an #chart or something?

Crikey, Will, you really are getting an old stick-in-the-mud. Not
surprising though, given the weather you've been getting.

Using a hashtag as in #snow makes the Tweet visible to anyone searching for mentions of thereof. It's perhaps overused but can be a useful tool if you want to sift through the noise and find pertinent Tweets regarding the subject in which you are interested. Professionally I find this rather useful.

You could click through to see what the picture is ; - ) But to save you the trouble it's the Tweet itself and the photo attached to it - which is a car stranded in a snow drift on a hill somewhere some time. I hate when forecasts are illustrated with pictures of how it might be. We all know what snow looks like, and this raises expectations among hoi polloi about what they will get, wherever they are - especially with such a vague tease.

My personal view is that it is foolish to even post this one week ahead unless one is trying to one-up online fauxcasters - and there's no need for that.

Stephen.

Put pic.twitter.com/93jGQCzZHR into your browser's address bar Will and
it'll show you the photo that was posted - a car in snow!

Oh for heaven's sake Will, you never used to be this grumpy.

93jGQCzZHR is part of the link to pic.twitter.com/93jGQCzZHR which showed up as a hyperlink on the original posting. It's a link to a picture.

#snow is a hashtag that allows you to view lists any other occurrences of this word. It's actually fairly useful - not in this case - when there are news events happening. For instance during the Paris attacks, people were posting #PorteOuverte to allow people safe houses when attacks were going on.

Or #uksnow is commonly used when people report snow that is use by websites such as uksnowmap.com. I think it's fairly clever and interesting.

It's called old and retired. Throw in some blizzard withdrawal symptoms
as well. I should know. Your turn will come Richard ;-)
