Rain in Cholsey

Well my wx station is flagging a new record every few seconds - most
rain in an hour. Currently 9.6mm (update 10.8) at a pretty steady 10 to
14 mm/hr rate.

Lowest pressure records also being set.

Before you comment - this is since 28 July when I started measuring.

Large area of moderate or heavy rain stretching from south Devon to Norfolk.
I estimate the wettest place since midnight is Portland with 20.7 mm and wet for around 4 hours. Sittingbourne on the other hand has been wet for 12:15m and has an estimated 9.7 mm.

The nearest estimate to you that I have is Wallingford is 9.8 mm in just 2:15m.

Still only a trace in mid-Devon although we might get side-swiped this evening as the low tracks NE.

Where in Wallingford Bruce? There are three other wx stations in Cholsey
but only one is in Wow. The pressure looks wrong (compared to RAF
Benson). His wind direction looks OK - it was 180 deg out when I last
looked.

C'mon Will, you know the old saying: the forecast's always right, it's
just the timing that's out. Perhaps we should add 'and the placing
that's out'.

I just use the nearest pixel for Wallingford (51.60N 1.13 W) and estimate the accumulation for each 15 minute weather radar image since midnight by doing a lookup on the color of that particular pixel.

By the way the total has now gone up to 15.8 mm at 1615 UTC!

Or: "The forecast was right; it was the weather that was wrong!"

The radar at the moment looks rather like yesterday evening's forecast
for about 0900 this morning.
