This is one from Twitter, a picture of snow in Rycroft today. [Wherever

[Wherever that is] ====== AB is Alberta: http://bit.ly/1ovolbF Stephen. It's about 400 km NW of Edmonton, on the flat lands just east of the mountains. Elevation about 600m so snow is probably unusual in June. A couple of years ago we got snowed on in June on the Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff but that was at 1500-2000m so not so unusual. One amusing feature of Rycroft, gleaned from Google Earth, is that the E/W roads in the town (all 4 of them) are named 45th Avenue to 48th Avenue while the N/S Roads (there are more of them) are named 43rd Street to 55th Street. Whatever happened to the lower numbers? Was the place a lot bigger in days gone by? -- Norman Lynagh Tideswell, Derbyshire 303m a.s.l. http://peakdistrictweather.org |

Maybe the town developers harboured hopes that it was going to grow into a much bigger place, and chose those numbers to avoid the risk that in future some negative numbers might be needed. -- John Hall Weep not for little Leonie Abducted by a French Marquis!
