I see Will is betting against the models and going for widespread snow
at the beginning of December. Should get Dawlish going. Seems a bit different to what Martin Gibbs is saying at the moment. Whatever happens don't want to get stuck in HP gloom for too long. We had it one February recently and didn't see the sun for a month. Dave |

We had it one February recently and didn't see the sun for a month. Dave Will finishes the piece on his blog by saying: "I’m not saying that this is definitely how it will all pan out, but I am pretty confident now that big changes are on the way next week with very cold conditions set to come down from the NW with a real risk of widespread snow. I’ll be issuing my regular forecast for Dartmoor tomorrow, so more details then." So at this stage he is (sensibly) only saying that widespread snow is a risk. -- John Hall "He crams with cans of poisoned meat The subjects of the King, And when they die by thousands G.K.Chesterton: Why, he laughs like anything." from "Song Against Grocers" |

Dave Hi, Dave, As long as the flow keeps west of north, we'll be OK here. Lots of sun and blue skies in the shelter (:0) Ken Copley, Teesdale |

Dave Odd that I said exactly the same thing 2 days about the risk in my commentary, following Len's post. *)) It's what the models showed then and are again showing this morning, though they both shied away from it last night. That's what Will does - highlights and accentuates the possibilities of cold, often stretching that possibility beyond what is sensible, then he never likes anyone pointing out the fact that is what he does. He's not betting on anything; he's hoping, because he likes cold and snow and that's why he's linked to his blog. You've put an OP of "Will's forecast", Dave. It's not forecast, of course, as John has pointed out. It's a blog commentary, as Will's Dartmoor forecast only goes out to 7 days, but you can bet your little like that it will become a forecast, in the minds of a few people, if it does "pan out". I hope he grows a second skin, grows up a little and posts here again to talk about these "forecasts" whether they pan out, or not. After all, he sees fit to link to his blog (why? Because it might get colder, of course) but people can post however they wish, for me, either here, or elsewhere. |

What surprises me is that the roof doesn't slope at a greater angle. You would think it was too flat for the snow to slide off, and might be in danger of collapse if too much snow fell. -- John Hall "He crams with cans of poisoned meat The subjects of the King, And when they die by thousands G.K.Chesterton: Why, he laughs like anything." from "Song Against Grocers" |

Either that or the wind blows it off. David Mitchell. Langtoft. East Riding. |

Dave Is Will's storm the same one that Len spotted a few days ago? http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/avnpanel1.html The St Jude's storm was predicted several days ahead and also originated in North America. Dave --------------------------------------- Certainly back on the GFS tonight big time. Half want it to happen but have to think of my wife out on the sponsored sleep out for the homeless. :-( Plenty of to and froing to come no doubt, as always, but with December coming I won't be surprised if it gets colder!
