The lightning flickered and the thunder rumbled for an hour but it never got close and not a drop of rain fell. This part of Devon is still parched, brown and dusty. Noticed a few trees suffering from drought stress today. Mainly beech but a few willows and birches were shedding their leaves also. The brook at the bottom of my garden has virtually dried up and the River Otter is very low. -- Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 20 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |
