Default Mild and Zonal Feb?

what do you reckon Will?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209

Monday 31 January 2011 to Sunday 6 February 2011

Change of the month, change in the weather?
The high pressure looks set to finally move east towards the continent
during the week allowing the milder southwesterlies to begin to make an
appearance again. This though will also bring back the wind and rain
especially in the south west, where despite the milder air it may still
feel rather cool. The transition can be a slow process though as we
found out last month so it may take a few days before the milder air
reaches all parts of the UK.
Monday 7 February 2011 to Sunday 20 February 2011

The westerlies stay in charge
The Atlantic seems set to stay in charge of our weather as we enter mid
February keeping the weather fairly unsettled. Rainfall amounts and
temperatures look set to be close too or just above average for the time
of year, which will help keep the nightime frost at bay. However with
the cold dense air never too far away in the continent we can't put away
our winter coats just yet.

Chris H,
He's predictable, but that's to be expected.

If true yippety doodah!!

Mind with the end of January fast approaching and the days getting
steadily longer, we'll get the sun back at the house in about a
fortnight, even a spring/summer nerd like me is feeling better.
February can be cold all right but at least it's the end of the winter,
far better than cold in December.

You just know that when February gets here, the start of spring is
just around the corner! If we can survive another
month..................5 daffs out in the garden after the dry and
mild weather of the last week.

No-one knows what Feb will bring, past the very start - and we can't
even be sure of the detail of that.

I think that high pressure will hang on over Britain. I do not buy this
return to zonality one bit.

I agree. Higher pressure out to 10 days looks more likely than
Atlantic weather this evening. Not quite there with the ECM.
