I fear the worst atm, my main computer has a failure, subsequently I may
not be able to update anything on my website until further notice. I will
try work from my old pc but I fear I may have lost much recent data.

I'll keep you posted.

Further to my last post, I do not have the 'upload' data I require so I
can't ftp either. I number of other tasks I perfrom don't seem to work on
the old Windows95 setup here, so I maybe off for a while :-(

I may have a 'mirror' at work of a number of files.

This has certainly made me realise how vunerable you are when all crashes.
I thought I had backed up stuff on CD! When I get over this crisis I will
have to have another look at my backing up procedures. Good job I run a lot
of this stuff at work, so I know I can get back to where I was ~ eventually
~ at the moment I am at a loss as to what to do :-(

Thanks Andrew for the offer. I'm always worried about these situation as I
am a user of computers, but when one goes tits-up! and haven't a clue where
to start. I should be able to get something running on this old pc tomorrow
evening/Saturday, but as for the main one I don't know.

Basically, I switch power on, it starts WindowsXP, then as it starts the
loading scroll a blue flash and starts to reboot again. Initially it
started with the power going off every few minutes.
One message it did come up with was:

Windows could not start because the fo;;owing file is missing or corrupt:
System22\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the
original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

I don't know how to get to that file off the CD, tried safe mode but didn't
mean much to me.

Any suggestions or ideas of what maybe the problem I would be interested to
know.

Unfortunately my best hope for help is away atm, so it maybe later next
week before I can get this fixed.

Many thanks

Boot from the CD and select the repair option, then pray.

Hi Keith

If you can get into Safe Mode go to the "Run" box just above the "Start"
and in it type the following - with the install CD in place

sfc /scannow

That should find missing system files such as the one above, and repair
them, by using the CD files.

Forgot to mention you press "enter" after typing that.
